Apple/Orange Spiced Tea Mix-12 Days of Easy Sweets

12 Days of Easy Sweets 2014
This version of a Friendship Tea-like mix is one of my favorites.  I found it in a 1999 Gooseberry Patch Christmas book.  This drink is not as highly spiced as some recipes.  If you want it spicier, add a teaspoon of cinnamon
.
If you are not a cook or a baker (then why are you reading this blog?), this is the perfect recipe to make and give with some fancy store-bought cookies and make it look as thought it is a homemade gift.  It is also something that can be made by children, with any necessary help, to give to grandma or a favorite aunt.  I like to throw everything into a blender and blend to mix, but, if children are making this, just combine and mix in a bowl.

The recipe is easily halved or multiplied and sugar-free ingredients can be used if desired.

Apple/Orange Spiced Tea Mix
adapted from Gooseberry Patch Christmas book
1 c sugar
1/3 c. dry orange drink mix
2/3 c. regular dry instant tea
2 envelopes instant spiced cider mix

Combine ingredients in a blender container or a mixing bowl and mix until well blended.  Pour into an airtight container or jar.  To use, combine 1 heaping teaspoon of mix into 1 (8 oz.) cup of hot water.  Mix and let steep 2 minutes.  Makes 2 cups mix, about 25 servings.
